International Juried Photography Call for Entry

Deadline:  December 15, 2013 (Midnight PST)

November 18, 2013 /Photography News/ The New York Center for Photographic Arts (NYC4PA) invites photographers world-wide to submit images using any photographic process (print, image transfer, emulsion transfer, encaustic, black and white, etc.). Winners will receive $3,000 in cash awards and be featured in a New York Gallery Show and on the NYC4PA Online Gallery. The Grand Prize winning image will be posted on the NYC4PA home page.

 Winners and Juror’s Selections will have the opportunity to participate in a gallery show, May 6 thru 17, 2014, at the NEW CENTURY ARTISTS GALLERY in Chelsea, Manhattan’s West Side gallery district. In addition, an exhibition catalog of the group show will be available. 

Black and white:

Today the world of photography is vast and varied. We work in color, black and white, monochrome, abstract and collage. This call for entry is an homage to the early days of our craft, when all the emotion, texture and beauty had to be captured in shades gray from black to white. 

No matter if your original image was shot with Tri-X or with a digital SLR, if the end product is a terrific Black and White it fits the call. Sepia toned photography is welcome as well. 

Exhibition and awards:

Eligibility: 

This Call for Entries is open worldwide to both amateur and professional photographers.  NYC4PA invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate. Experimental and mixed techniques are welcome. Only 2-D work is eligible. 

Entry fee: 

The entry fee is $35 for the first three images. Additional images may be submitted for $10 each. There is no limit to the number of images submitted.  

Juror: Mark Sink

Mark Sink, photographer, curator and teacher, has made his living from fine art photography since 1978. While living in NYC (through the 1980's) he worked with and documented the lives and works of Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Rene Ricard and other art luminaries of the 1980s.

In the early 1990s Sink was an inspiration and co-founder of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver. More recently, Mark works as a private art consultant in Denver, independently curating a wide range of artists and shows. The most recent of note is the "Month of Photography Denver" that stirs up over 180 venues into one month of celebrating photography.

Mark is well known for images made with his plastic Diana camera, and recently he has been exploring collodion wet plate technique. 

Sink’s work is in numerous museum collections and has been shown in both gallery solo and group shows world wide. He is represented by G. Ray Hawkins in California, Robin Rice in NYC, Paul Cava in Philadelphia, and Rule Gallery in Denver.

Terms and conditions:

All entrants to NYC4PA Open Calls for Entry, by virtue of their submission, are attesting that the images submitted are their own work and there has been no copyright infringement.  NYC4PA will not be held liable for any infringement of rights that might surface during the jurying or displaying of any image.  

By submitting you grant NYC4PA the right to use your image(s) for promotion and advertisement of NYC4PA.

Images selected by jurors for Prizes, Juror's Selection or Honorable Mention in a previous NYC4PA international call for entry are not eligible. Images previously submitted but not selected may be resubmitted as often as you wish.

Awards:

Should your award notification or prize be returned as undeliverable, NYC4PA will not resend the notice (whether by the same or another method,) research your address nor make any further attempts at delivery, and your submission will be deemed ineligible. Please be careful when entering all your contact information. 

NYC4PA would prefer to remit cash awards through a PayPal transfer. If you do not have a PayPal account to which they can remit your award, please contact them for alternate arrangements.

Non U.S. applicants:

NYC4PA's entry software has an address field for the state you live in.  This applies to the US and several other countries - if you do not have “state” as part of your address simply leave that field blank - it is not mandatory.
