Courage In Photojournalism Award

January 3, 2014 /Photography News/ The International Women's Media Foundation (IWMF) is seeking nominations for the Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award honoring AP photographer Anja Niedringhaus who was killed in Afghanistan in April 2014. Created with a $1 million grant from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, the Award will be given annually to a woman photojournalist whose work reflects the courage and dedication of Anja Niedringhaus.
Niedringhaus won the IWMF Courage in Journalism Award in 2005, and spent her life documenting wars and the effects of conflict on people in war-torn regions.
Both freelance journalists and those affiliated with a media organization are eligible to apply.
The deadline for submitting nominations is February 1, 2015. The winner will be announced in spring 2015.
The inaugural Award ceremony will be held in Berlin, Germany, in June 2015.
