‘Revisiting Romania: Portraits from London’ at the Horniman Museum
January 6, 2015 /Photography News/ Around 130,000 Romanians are currently living in the UK. Some have been here for more than 40 years, some have just arrived. Each had different hopes and expectations, and each has had a different experience.
Showcasing 35 large format photographs, ‘Revisiting Romania: Portraits from London’ introduces some of the stories behind their journeys to the UK, aspects of their lives and their relationship with their homeland and culture.
‘Revisiting Romania: Portraits from London’ is a project initiated by Ion Paciu at Photoion Photography School, in collaboration with the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Horniman Museum.
Photographer Ion Paciu came to London from Romania in 2003. He is a member of the Royal Photographic Society and specialises in portrait architecture and cityscape photography. He is the tutor and founder of Photoion Photography School.
The exhibition is free to visit, until 8 March 2015, at the Horniman Museum and Gardens in Forest Hill, South London.
