Masters of Underwater Photography - Call For Entries

February 12, 2012 /Photography News/ Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) invites underwater photography artists to submit their work for review for the upcoming exhibition Liquid Capture: Masters of Underwater Photography on view at OMA April 28 through June 17, 2012 with an Exhibition Reception and Panel Discussion on May 5. 

Organized by renowned photographer Lee Peterson, Liquid Capture: Masters of Underwater Photography is a juried exhibition presenting the best underwater photographic art from around the world. 


The Liquid Capture competition is open to entrants of all skill levels. Entries may have been taken from any camera, film or digital.


  • Ocean Environment Underwater
  • Macro
  • Diver
  • Ocean Environment Above Water
  • Marine Mammals

An optional category is Submersion, a creative look at diving.


Prizes include a Nikon and a Cannon underwater digital camera sponsored by Oceanside Photo and Telescope, an Aqua Lung Titan LX Regulator, a $500 Gift Certificate good towards the purchase of a housing of your choice from Nauticam US, and image enhancement software from Topaz Labs. Best of Show will receive complementary face mounted printing. All selected photographs will be published in the exhibition catalogue being created by Digital One and artists will receive an exhibition certificate from Oceanside Museum of Art. 

There will be 3 winners per category; the 25 winning pieces will be in the exhibition as well as 25 additional pieces selected by the jurors.  Following this exhibition, the top 25 images will be available to tour other museums.

Submission deadline: 

All artwork must be submitted by March 4, 2012. Artists will be informed by March 19, 2012 if their work is selected. If selected they will need to submit a high resolution image by March 23, 2012.

Entry fee:  

Admission fee is a flat $25 for up to three submissions, additional images are $20.
